Who is the Workbench?
Hello! I’m David Gallagher, a graphic designer and creative professional splitting my time between Cape Town and London. I thrive on pushing creative boundaries and embracing the unexpected, using bold typography, raw textures, and experimental layouts to craft attention-grabbing visuals.
With over four years of experience in branding and advertising, I bring both creativity and strategic insight to every project.
In addition to my agency role, I’ve been running my own freelance design business, The Workbench, for three years. This venture has allowed me to expand my creative horizons, collaborate with a diverse range of clients, and explore innovative design solutions.
My passion for creativity drives me to deliver excellence in graphic design while extending my expertise into event management and marketing. This holistic approach enables me to create impactful solutions that resonate with audiences.

Work Process?
1: Design Brief
During our initial conversation, we’ll outline the details of your project. Whether you have a clear vision or need some guidance, we’ll discuss your goals, target audience, and preferences.
I’ll aim to understand your values, what inspires you, and what you’d like to avoid. This step ensures we’re aligned and provides the foundation for the project.
2: Quotation and Agreement
Based on the brief, I’ll provide you with a detailed quote outlining the deliverables, timelines, and cost.
A deposit will be required to confirm the project, ensuring both parties are committed to moving forward.
3: Research and Concept Development
This is where the creative process begins! I’ll research your industry, competitors, and design trends to create a mood board for inspiration.
From there, I’ll develop initial concepts that balance aesthetics with functionality, staying true to the design brief.
4: Feedback
I’ll present the initial concepts to you for review. This is your opportunity to provide feedback, share your thoughts, and discuss any adjustments.
Clear and constructive feedback at this stage is key to refining the design.
5: Revisions
With your feedback in mind, I’ll make the necessary changes to the design. We’ll collaborate until the design fully aligns with your vision.
Revisions will follow the agreed scope outlined in the quote.
6: Final Delivery
Once you’re completely satisfied with the design, I’ll prepare and deliver the final files in the required formats.
At this stage, the remaining balance will be due, and you’ll receive everything you need to start using your new design!
